Achatinellidae is a family of tropical air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Pupilloidea.
It was previously the only family in the superfamily Achatinelloidea (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005).
All species of tree-snail in Hawaii are believed to have come from a single ancestral snail.
How that ancestral snail made the 3,800 kilometres (2,400 mi) trip across the ocean is unknown.
[4][5] Genera in the family Achatinellidae include: Achatinellinae Auriculellinae Elasmatininae Pacificellinae Tekoulininae Tornatellidinae Tornatellininae unsorted
