He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the BN coalition.

Ahmad Maslan was born on 30 April 1966 at Kampung Parit Yusuf, Lubok Sipat, Benut, Pontian, Johor to rubber tapping parents.

[5] After successfully defended his seat in 2013 general election, he was appointed as the Deputy Finance Minister.

[7] He was reelected in 2018 general election, unfortunately Barisan Nasional became the opposition coalition due to failing to gain a simple majority in the Dewan Rakyat.

Ahmad announced that the toll fares of the expressways would be waived in view of the Christmas on 23 and 26 December 2023.
