Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah

Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah (Arabic: أحمدو ولد عبد الله) (born November 21, 1940) is a Mauritanian diplomat who was a senior United Nations official.

Moreover, he was Chief Executive Officer at the Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière de Mauritanie,[1] the largest mining company and cooperation in Mauritania.

[3] In 2006, the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan sent him on a short-term mission as Special Envoy to Sudan to clarify the agreement with the Sudanese Government on the proposed UN-AU joint peacekeeping force.

[4] Ould-Abdallah has also been active in the work of non-governmental organizations, including the Global Coalition for Africa and the World Future Council,[5] the International Centre for Ethics, Justice and Public Life of Brandeis University, ICRC, and Search for Common Ground.

Mr. Ould-Abdallah established the well acclaimed steering committee on Somalia, composed of the United Nations, African Union and Intergovernmental Authority on Development.
