He had read all the books about the art of drawing and painting in the Vahid Paşa Public Library before he finished secondary school.
After graduating from Kütahya High School, he passed the entrance exam for the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University without needing an interview.
He learned Ottoman miniature-making, illumination, flute playing and musicology, from Süheyl Ünver and Halil Dikmen.
[3] Yakupoğlu created approximately two thousand original paintings; half of them depict street scenes, recreation spots, old historical buildings and the people of Kütahya Province.
