Atlanta, the Montmorency county seat, is 16 miles (26 km) by road to the northeast.

Albert Township is home to Lewiston, a census-designated place and unincorporated community.

As of the 2000 census,[3] there were 2,695 people, 1,229 households, and 822 families residing in the township, with a population density of 40.9 per square mile (15.8/km2).

There were 2,603 housing units at an average density of 39.6 per square mile (15.3/km2).

30.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
