Ali Akbar Ahmadian is an Iranian military officer[1] and secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC),[2][3] a position to which he was appointed on 22 May 2023.

[2][3] He is also the current member of the Expediency Discernment Council since 2022.

[5][6] After a stint in the Iran-Iraq War Ahmadian served as Ali Shamkhani’s deputy commander in the IRGC Navy.

[5] Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi appointed him on 22 May 2023 to the position of Secretary of the SNSC.

[8] On 5 August 2024 Ahmadian met in Tehran with Sergei Shoigu, his Russian counterpart.
