As of September 2014, the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (AIEMA) was setting up a transit yard to segregate and dispose about 300 tonnes of waste generated every month.
The industrial estate was also planning to set up a common effluent treatment plant with a capacity to treat 200 kilolitres per day at a cost of ₹ 50 million.
