Anaeromonadea

Anaeromonadea, also known as Preaxostyla,[1][2] is a class of excavate protists, comprising the oxymonads, Trimastix,[3] and Paratrimastix.

[4] This group is studied as a model system for reductive evolution of mitochondria,[5] because it includes both organisms with anaerobic mitochondrion-like organelles (Trimastix[6] and Paratrimastix[7]), and those that have completely lost their mitochondria (oxymonads Monocercomonoides,[8] Streblomastix, and Blattamonas[6]).
