In publication since 2018, this journal covers significant developments in the field of health informatics and biomedical data science with an annual volume of review articles.

[6] The journal focuses on biomedical data science, the development of scientific methods to acquire, annotate, organize, analyze, and interpret biomedical data and extract knowledge about life, health, and disease.

[10] The Annual Review of Biomedical Data Science is helmed by the editor or the co-editors.

All other members of the editorial committee are appointed by the Annual Reviews board of directors and serve five-year terms.

The editorial committee determines which topics should be included in each volume and solicits reviews from qualified authors.
