Elected the 159th President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, she became the third woman and first person of colour to hold the position, taking office in November 2023.
[3] In 1999, after winning a Commonwealth scholarship, she studied for an MSc in water and environmental engineering at the University of Surrey in the UK.
[5] After completing her masters, she was seconded by Black & Veatch to work for Clancy Docwra as a design engineer on United Utilities' Haweswater scheme in the UK's Lake District.
[5][6] She is currently seconded to the Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM Nuttall joint venture on High Speed 2 as senior director of environmental consents.
[10] She represents Arcadis at the London Climate Change Partnership and 50L Home Initiative of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
