The Arapuni hydro station is owned and operated by Mercury Energy.

[3] The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "blocked path" for Arapuni.

[4] The Arapuni Suspension Bridge below the dam is freely open to public.

[7] Statistics New Zealand describes Arapuni as a rural settlement, which covers 1.83 km2 (0.71 sq mi)[1] and had an estimated population of 320 as of June 2024,[2] with a population density of 175 people per km2.

The settlement is part of the larger Putāruru Rural statistical area.
