The racial makeup of the township was 97.21% White, 0.23% African American, 0.84% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.21% from two or more races.

In the township the population was spread out, with 29.7% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.1% 65 or older.
