Yeremyan's most significant success was his gold medal victory at the 2008 European Taekwondo Championships in Rome, Italy in the men's welterweight (78 kg) division.
Albert Azaryan was originally intended to bear the Armenian flag at the 2012 Olympics, but the decision was changed due to his age and the honor was passed onto Yeremyan instead.
At the tournament, he defeated eventual 2012 Olympic silver medalist Nicolás García and Tommy Mollet.
[citation needed] Yeremyan, who scored a head kick in the final seconds that went uncounted, stood confused after the match was over.
[5] He won a silver medal at the 2016 European Taekwondo Championships in Montreux, Switzerland in the men's middleweight (87 kg) division.
