Arrondissements of the Var department

The 3 arrondissements of the Var department are:[1] In 1800 the arrondissements of Draguignan, Brignoles, Grasse and Toulon were established.

[2] The arrondissement of Grasse was passed to the new department of Alpes-Maritimes in 1860.

[3] The arrondissement of Brignoles was disbanded in 1926, and restored in 1974.

Toulon replaced Draguignan as prefecture in 1974.
