Arthur Carter (24 March 1848 – 9 April 1923) was an English first-class cricketer and clergyman.
The son of The Reverend William Carter, he was one of six children and was born in March 1848 at Old Malton, Yorkshire.
[2] After graduating from Cambridge, he took holy orders in the Anglican Church, being ordained as a deacon in 1871.
He returned to his native Yorkshire in 1872, taking up the curacy of St Luke's in Leeds, a post he held until 1875.
He was a sub-chanter at Ripon Cathedral later in 1875, before being moving south to Hertfordshire, where he was appointed curate of Shephall in 1876.
