The name referred to the first article of the Dutch constitution, which prohibits discrimination based on race, religion, gender or any other reason.

Other prominent candidates were anthropologist Gloria Wekker and former Socialist Party senator Anja Meulenbelt.

Sylvana Simons was again selected as lead candidate, while anti-racism activist Quinsy Gario was placed on the second spot.
