Athletics at the 1928 Summer Olympics – Men's 110 metres hurdles

The men's 110 metres hurdles event at the 1928 Olympic Games took place between July 31 & August 1.

It was only the second time the United States had not won the event; as in 1920, the Americans took silver and bronze.

[2] Austria, Ireland, Japan, Poland, Portugal, and Romania each made their first appearance in the event.

The United States made its eighth appearance, the only nation to have competed in the 110 metres hurdles in each Games to that point.

George Weightman-Smith set a new world record at 14.6 seconds in the semifinals; that time was not beaten in the final.
