Earlier in the year, Thea LaFond won the World Indoor Championship over Pérez and Peleteiro.

Liadagmis Povea, Jasmine Moore, Peleteiro and Ricketts beat the automatic qualifier on their first attempt.

Her winning mark improved her own National Record and moved her into a tie with Bekh-Romanchuk as #24 of all time.
