Atrauli is a town and a municipal board in Aligarh district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
[citation needed] The town was earlier known as Atravali (अत्रावली), which later had been colloquially altered to Atrauli (अतरौली).
[citation needed] During the 18th century Rao Durjan Singh Ponia of Bijauli took possession of Atrauli.
Also, Atrauli is in the plains of Ganga-Yamuna Doab, located at the right bank of the Ganges.
Atrauli has an average literacy rate of 47.5%, with 53.4% of the males and 41.1% of females literate.
