Alexander directed most of their films, while Aud Egede-Nissen and her sisters Ada Kramm and Gerd Grieg usually played the female lead roles.

She had major roles in movies of 1922 including Fritz Lang's Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler and F. W. Murnau's Phantom.

In 1924, the year Aud married him, he ascended to superstar status, taking the lead role of King Siegfried in Lang's Die Nibelungen.

Along with Paul Richter, Aud also played in the 1928 Norwegian-German co-production Snowshoe Bandits (German: Schneeschuhbanditen) and based on a crime novel by Nils Lie and Nordahl Grieg.
