Avenue D formed in 2001, as part of New York's electroclash scene,[4] which also included artists such as Fischerspooner, Peaches, and Felix da Housecat.

Norwegian musician Erlend Øye included Avenue D's song "2D2F" on his installment of the DJ-Kicks compilation series, released on April 19, 2004.
