She has been Deputy Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs since 2007.
[3][6][7] Sofiyeva worked as a legal advisor at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population from 1998 until 2000.
She was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 2000 for the New Azerbaijan Party representing the Sheki district,[8] serving until 2005.
[9] In March 2007, she was appointed Deputy Chair of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children's Affairs,[3] working to promote gender equality.
[12] Sofiyeva is married to footballer and former national coach Yunis Hüseynov and they have two children.
