The community lies in the Westerwald between Limburg and Siegen.

Bölsberg is the smallest community in the Verbandsgemeinde of Bad Marienberg, a kind of collective municipality.

North of the community runs Bundesstraße 414 leading from Driedorf-Hohenroth to Hachenburg.
