The first generation of the 2 Series Gran Coupé was revealed on 16 October 2019, and officially premiered at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in November,[4] and was launched in worldwide markets in March 2020.

The second generation of the 2 Series Gran Coupé was officially revealed on 15 October 2024 with production set to commence later in 2024.
