Baring Plantation, Maine

[1] The plantation is named for Alexander Baring, 1st Baron Ashburton, the British negotiator of the Webster–Ashburton Treaty which ended the Aroostook War in 1838–1839.

As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 273 people, 113 households, and 81 families residing in the plantation.

There were 146 housing units at an average density of 7.0 per square mile (2.7/km2).

There were 113 households, out of which 27.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.9% were married couples living together, 8.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% were non-families.

23.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
