Barker Heights is located in central Henderson County.
It is bordered to the north, west, and south by Hendersonville, the county seat, and to the southeast by East Flat Rock.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2), of which 0.858 acres (3,474 m2), or 0.13%, are water.
