Barnard is a city in Lincoln County, Kansas, United States.
[3] Barnard was first settled in 1888 when a rail line of the Chicago, Kansas & Western Railroad Company reached the town, and it was incorporated as a city in 1904.
The railroad applied to abandon the 43.38 mile "Minneapolis District" line from Manchester to Barnard in 1983.
[6] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.22 square miles (0.57 km2), all land.
[7] The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters.
[8] The 2020 United States census counted 64 people, 34 households, and 18 families in Barnard.
55.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
40.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The only businesses or services remaining in Barnard are a post office and a small grocery.
The community is served by Lincoln USD 298 public school district.
