It serves the Tala, Sinthee, Tobin Road, Baranagar, Dunlop, Belgharia, Kamarhati, Agarpara, Panihati, Sodepur, Sukchar, Khardaha.

A six-lane flyover is planned between Tallah Bridge and Dunlop to decongest the BT Road.

Potable water pipeline connections from Palta Waterworks to Kolkata, along the BT Road, existed since the late 1860s.
