Barry Turner (born 4 October 1937) is a British writer, editor and former journalist.
Turner started his career as a teacher before turning to journalism with The Observer and making many appearances on radio and television.
[2] In the mid-1970s, Turner joined Macmillan to develop a general non-fiction list before turning to marketing as a director of the academic press responsible for world sales.
Returning to full-time writing in the early 1980s, he produced a wide range of work from theatrical biographies to a political and economic study of the five Nordic countries, The Other European Community.
[3] As founding editor of The Writer’s Handbook Turner took this annual reference title through to its twenty-fourth (final) edition.
