Basirhat Dakshin Assembly constituency

Basirhat Dakshin Assembly constituency is an assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

[1] ^ By-election A bye-election was held on 13 September 2014 following the death of the sitting MLA, Narayan Mukherjee.

During the period Narayan Mukherjee of CPI(M) won seven elections in a row from 95 Basirhat assembly constituency, defeating his nearest rivals Asit Majumdar of INC in 2006,[5] Souren Sen of Trinamool Congress in 2001,[6] Asit Majumdar of Congress in 1996, Dilip Mazumdar of Congress in 1991[7] and 1987,[8] and Debi Prasad Nanda of Congress in 1982[9] and 1977.

[10][11] Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned.
