Batelov consists of five municipal parts (in brackets population according to the 2021 census):[2] The name is derived from the personal name Batel.

The highest point is the hill Rovina at 761 m (2,497 ft) above sea level.

The original settlement was founded in a part called Na Vůbci.

[9] The New Castle is a Neoclassical building with Renaissance core, which served as the seat of the nobility.
