Bayard, West Virginia

Bayard is a town in Grant County, West Virginia, United States.

Bayard was founded on the West Virginia Central and Pittsburg Railway as a coal mining community.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.31 square miles (0.80 km2), all of it land.

[6] The climate in this area has mild differences between highs and lows, and there is adequate rainfall year-round.

[7] The only significant road serving Bayard is West Virginia Route 90.

The racial makeup of the town was 98.3% White, 1.4% Native American, and 0.3% from two or more races.

About 7.2% of families and 14.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 22.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 5.3% of those sixty five or over.
