Bethel is an unincorporated community in Franklin Township, Wayne County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.

[1] Bethel is home of Indiana’s highest natural point, Hoosier Hill.

[3] A post office was established at Bethel in 1850, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1915.

[6] While he was in prison, Longnecker had gotten involved with a Bethel resident named "Claude Constable".

During this time, Dillinger's gang escaped him from prison and he either had swept through town, or had intentions to after hearing of the events.
