Betty Wilson (politician)

[1] In 1971, Wilson was elected to the Berkeley Heights, New Jersey Township Committee, the first woman to win local office in that municipality.

Running with Arnold D'Ambrosa, they defeated two Republican incumbents, Herbert H. Kiehn and Arthur Manner.

[3] As a freshman legislator, Wilson won a leadership post and served as the Assembly Majority Whip.

She returned to the Byrne Administration from 1981 to 1982 as the Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Industry.

She was the founder of the Center for Non-Profit Corporations, which is a consulting firm, and a toxic-waste cleanup company.
