Together with Ironbark Sustainability, BZE has developed the Snapshot community climate tool,[8] which provides nationally consistent, community-wide greenhouse gas profiles for every local government area in Australia.

BZE is independently funded by donations, mostly from philanthropic trusts and individuals, as well as grants and commissioned research and projects from local and state government organisations.

The Board is appointed by members, and brings diverse skills including investment, philanthropy, energy and climate expertise, communications and engagement and legal.
