Guyton wrote "Black Like Me" with Fraser Churchill, Emma Davidson Dillon, and Nathan Chapman, the latter of whom also co-produced the song with Forest Whitehead.

[4][3] The song's title was inspired by Black Like Me, a book exposing racial inequality in the Southern United States in the 1960s written by John Howard Griffin.

[5] Written on a writer's retreat in 2019, it was not released until June 2, 2020, eight days after the murder of George Floyd and amidst widespread protests.

I can't think of a better song to make history with than 'Black Like Me' and I hope that I can continue to help open doors for other women and people who look like me.
