Blanchman's Farm

It is owned by Tandridge District Council and managed by the Blanchman's Farm Committee and the Downlands Countryside Project.

The area known as the Thrift Fields, around 6.5 ha (16 acres), was purchased by George Wren in June 1885 and remained in private ownership until October 1935, when it was bought by Surrey County Council.

[4] The rest of Benyon's estate remained intact until 1922, when the owners of Mayes Place bought part of land adjacent to their property.

[4] The Caterham and Warlingham Urban District Council acquired the rest of land in 1935, after which it was rented to local farmers for grazing.

[9] An oil painting of Blanchman's Farm, dated 1913, by Charles Langton Lockton (1856-1932) is held by Warlingham Library.
