Botryosphaeria corticola has caused infection of oak trees in Spain,[2] Portugal,[3] Morocco,[4] Italy,[5] Greece,[6] Hungary,[7] and the United States.

[9] Botryosphaeria corticola infects the twigs, branches and stems of oaks and degrades the cambial tissues.
Pycnidia are dark brown to black, circular, immersed, partially erumpent and up to 1 mm diameter.
