Brampton was the subject of an archeological excavation in the 1960s which revealed the existence of a Roman bath house and almost 140 pottery kilns.
[1] Brampton's name is of Anglo-Saxon origin and derives from the Old English for a farmstead or village close to a thicket of broom.
[3] During the Sixteenth Century, Oxnead Hall was built within the parish on Medieval foundations by Clement Paston.
The village's national constituency is Broadland and Fakenham which has been represented by the Conservative Party's Jerome Mayhew MP since 2019.
Brampton's war memorial is located in St. Peter's Churchyard and takes the form of a granite cross.
