[1] In July 2010, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva became the first Brazilian head-of-state to visit Tanzania which constituted a historic landmark in the relations between the two countries.
During the visit, bilateral contacts were deepened in areas such as biofuels, agriculture, investments in infrastructure, mining and trade.
In 2011, Tanzanian Prime Minister, Mizengo Pinda, paid an official visit to Brazil.
Both at the trilateral and bilateral levels, initiatives were developed in the agricultural, health, energy, sports and child protection sectors.
Currently, trilateral programs are being implemented in the area of food security (school meals) and promotion of decent work in the cotton sector, as well as bilateral programs to strengthen the cotton and fishing sectors in Tanzania.
