Bridgewater, Maine

Bridgewater is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, United States.

[1] This climatic region is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters.

There were 326 housing units at an average density of 8.4 per square mile (3.2/km2).

29.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

In 1820 the State of Maine was officially separated from Massachusetts, and at that time the name Bridgewater was applied to the Township.

[9] The area north of Bangor had been previously divided into 6 mile square townships,[10] and in 1803 the future Bridgewater Township was subdivided into two 3 mile x 6 mile areas, each designated a "grant" area to fund public academies in Portland and Bridgewater, respectively.
