Bubalornis is a genus of bird in the family Ploceidae.

The name Bubalornis is a combination of the Greek words boubalos, meaning "buffalo" and ornis, meaning "bird".
The genus got its name from the buffalo weavers' habit of following herds of African Buffalo.
