Burnsville, West Virginia

Burnsville is a town in Braxton County, West Virginia, United States, at the confluence of the Little Kanawha River and Saltlick Creek.

Burnsville was incorporated in 1902 by the Circuit Court and named for Captain John Burns who operated the first sawmill in that section of the state and who established the town shortly after the close of the American Civil War.

There were 253 housing units at an average density of 238.7 per square mile (92.2/km2).

The racial makeup of the town was 97.3% White, 1.2% Native American, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 1.4% from two or more races.

28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

30.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters.
