Burwell Boykin Lewis (July 7, 1838 – October 11, 1885) represented both Alabama's 6th congressional district and Alabama's at-large congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.
With the outbreak of the American Civil War Lewis enlisted in the Confederate States Army.
He moved to Tuscaloosa where he engaged in business activities before being elected to an at-large seat in the United States House of Representatives in 1875.
This seat was to represent the 8th congressional district which was first apportioned as a result of the 1880 census.
Lewis served as president of the UA for just over five years until his death in Tuscaloosa, in 1885.
