Butuceni

Butuceni (Moldovan Cyrillic: Бутучень, Ukrainian: Бутучани, Butuchany, Russian: Бутучаны, previously Ботушаны, Botushany, Polish: Botuszany) is a village in the Rîbnița District of Transnistria, Moldova.

[1] It has since 1990 been administered as a part of the self-proclaimed Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR).

Botuszany, as it was known in Polish, was a private village of the Lubomirski family, administratively located in the Bracław County in the Bracław Voivodeship in the Lesser Poland Province of the Kingdom of Poland.

In the 19th century, it remained a possession of Polish nobility, i.e. Grabowski and Lipkowski families.

According to the 2004 census, the population of the village was 1,411 inhabitants, of which 1,334 (94.54%) were Moldovans (Romanians), 27 (1.91%) Ukrainians and 36 (2.55%) Russians.
