The team represents the men's basketball section of the CSM Constanța multi-sports club.

The basketball team predates the multi-sports club (which was founded in 2021), being named Athletic Neptun Constanța before the merger in the summer of 2022.

However, in 2018 the league was merged with the top-tier: Liga Națională.
