Sugar cane was planted in the area for distilled beverage production, which earned the city its nickname Terra da Pinga.
The landscape is dominated by the mountains (Japi, Guaxatuba and Taguá) and the Tietê river.
The company is currently an operator of cell phones, fixed lines, internet (fiber optics/4G) and television (satellite and cable).
