Calingiri, Western Australia

Calingiri is a town located north-east of Perth, near New Norcia in Western Australia.

It was thought to be related to the 1968 Meckering earthquake, but a direct connection was not made at the time.

[4] An 800 km2 (310 sq mi) tract of land around the town has been classified as an Important Bird Area because it supports up to 20 breeding pairs of the endangered Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo.

[5] One of the local reserves near the Calingiri townsite was named after Rica Erickson.
