Camembert (French pronunciation: [kamɑ̃bɛʁ] ⓘ) is a commune in the Orne department in north-western France.
[3] The commune is part of the area known as Pays d'Auge.
[4] One river, the Viette, and four streams (the Fontaine de la Motte, Besion, the Moulin Neuf, and the Costillets) run through the commune.
The village is most noted for the early development of camembert cheese by Marie Harel in 1791.
