Canada at the 2014 Commonwealth Games

Canada competed in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 3, 2014.

[4] Former multiple medal winning Commonwealth Games and sport shooter Susan Nattrass was named as the team's opening ceremony flagbearer in June.

The result pushed Canada back into the top three, after finishing fourth four years ago in New Delhi.

The athletes added are former World Championship medalist Svein Tuft and Will Routley.

[15] Canadian divers finished the Games with seven medals one less than four years ago.

Thus the team selected does not consist of the top level athletes such as 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Antoine Valois-Fortier.

[26] Ryan Bester won the country's only medal (a silver) in the men's singles competition.

[28] After losing two of three group stage games, Canada won the bowl competition.

[30] Canada's shooting team won three medals, tying the result from four years prior.

[32] Canada's squash team did not manage to win a medal at the games, the only individual sport without a medalist.

[35] Canada's team won a total of eleven medals, one more than four year ago at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

[43] Canada's wrestling team won a total of twelve medals, including seven gold.

The twelve medals is the highest won by the country in freestyle wrestling at the Commonwealth Games.

Aaron Brown represented Canada in two events.
Michael Mason won a bronze medal in the high jump event.
Damian Warner won the gold medal in the decathlon.
Jessica Smith (pictured third from the right) competes in her first round heat in the 800 metres event.

Svein Tuft represented Canada in the men's road race and time trial.
Jasmin Glaesser represented Canada in both road and track cycling.
Laura Brown also competed in both the track and road disciplines.
Canada takes on Scotland in the group stage.
